About Us
WHO ARE WE?

Germantown Church of God, is a member congregation of the Churches of God, General Conference.  Our denominational headquarters is located in Findlay, OH.  The Churches of God movement began in 1825 through the ministry of John Winebrenner.   The University of Findlay, and Windebrenner Theological Seminary are affiliated with our denomination.

The Germantown congregation is located in Cascade, MD, in northwest Frederick County (16924 Raven Rock Road, Cascade, MD).  We are about 15 miles from Hagerstown, MD, 20 miles from Frederick, MD and 5 miles from Waynesboro, PA.  We can be found on Raven Rock Road (MD 491), near Fort Ritchie.   Office Phone number is:  (301) 241-3050.

The congregation was started in 1870 by members of the Friends Creek Church of God.  Over the years the congregation has grown.  The current building was built in 3 phases.  A new building was constructed in 1949.  In 1971 a Christian Education wing was added and in 1996 a large multi-purpose room was added.

We invite you to come to the Mountain Top and join us in worship, study and fellowship.  Our desire is to help people connect with God through a relationship with Jesus Christ.  We welcome all!

Mission Statement
Proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through our words and deeds; to all people, as they are, whether saved or lost – all to the honor of our God.

Core Values
A. Bible-centered preaching/teaching - “All Scripture is God breathed and is beneficial for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16

B. Evangelism – By bringing individuals to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.(Romans 3:23 ) “...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

C. Intercessory Prayer – Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

D. Youth – Luke 18:16-17 , “But Jesus called the children to Him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as there. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

E. Committed Christians (discipleship) – Mark 12:30-31 , “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.”

F. Giving/Tithing – Nehemiah 10:37-39 “Moreover, we will bring to the storerooms of the house of our God, to the priests, the first of our ground meal, of our [grain] offerings, of the fruit of all our trees and of our new wine and oil. And we will bring a tithe of our crops to the Levites, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all the towns where we work. 38. A priest descended from Aaron is to accompany the Levites when they receive the tithes, and the Levites are to bring a tenth of the tithes up to the house of our God, to the storerooms of the treasury. 39. The people of Israel, including the Levites, are to bring their contributions of grain, new wine and oil to the storerooms where the articles for the sanctuary are kept and where the ministering priests, the gatekeepers and the singers stay.” “We will not neglect the house of our God.”

G. People matter to God (missions) – Matthew 18:18-20 , “Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
